Blue skies, friendly skies…are now turning into green skies at American Airlines, where they are ‘thinking outside the bin’! American Airlines has an extensive corporate philosophy incorporating recycling of all possible items: pillows and blankets go to homeless shelters, all papers get recycled, old carpets get reused at pet shelters, and wine corks go to our favorite RECORK program, . In addition, all aluminum cans are scrapped, with the funds going to the Flight Attendant’s “Wings” program, which helps fund long term illnesses or disaster relief for Flight Attendants. We applaud this airline, for their efforts to do their part, and “think outside the bin”. Their wings program keeps about 15 million cans out of the landfill each year, the equivalent weight of 5 jet airplanes.
