Cars are one of the most recycled commodities, according to Recycle-Steel.org, and whole cars are not put in landfills. Almost three-fourths of a vehicle is made up of steel and iron and are therefore very valuable and can be salvaged for reuse. About 20% of a vehicle is recycled and the remaining 5% is thrown away.
